Premiere Television Commercial for Bandstand: A New American Musical on Broadway.
Inspired by musical set pieces from the golden age of Hollywood and infused with a modern, rhythmic editorial approach, I cut this spot to imbue the viewer with the sense that the whole room was combusting in tandem; an impassioned wallop on the piano causes dancers to soar through the air, a burst from the horn section sends legs sliding across the bar. Movements coalesce and shapes collide between cuts, building to the sudden quiet of a voice about to emerge.
