Premiere Television Commercial for the revival of Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway.
“In old Jewish villages”, director Bartlett Sher told me as we worked on this project, “the bars and the synagogues looked exactly the same from the outside”. That is to say, these community pillars were designed to be simultaneously enjoyed and protected. This anecdote made clear the narrative goal: Celebrate a culture’s vibrant, expressive traditions alongside its serene, reverent nature. I structured the edit to reflect this idea by seamlessly cutting between broad, emotive performances and intimate moments of delicate choreography.

Follow-up Television Commercial for the revival of Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway.
Instead of treating this commercial as a direct cutdown of the premiere spot, I structured this edit in a manner that accentuated the juxtaposition between the solemn and celebratory worlds of the show’s characters in a succinct manner. This was accomplished with a re-edit of the score, and a retrieval of delicate moments left unused from the initial commercial, painting a complete world in a matter of moments.
